What is Banned at the Qatar 2022 World Cup and What are the Fines and Prison Sentences?

Qatar is expected to host around one million visitors during the 2022 World Cup, which starts on November 20.

However, there has been a lot of criticism of the host country, since there are various ways in which Qatar does not respect human rights as reported by Marca.

The country has many restrictions which would be unheard of in the western world.

What Can’t You Do in Qatar?
For one example, if any of the visitors is caught with drugs, they can be fined 51,000 euros and can even go to prison for between seven and 15 years.

Another rule is that women will not be allowed to wear low-cut necklines and their shoulders will have to be covered. In addition, their clothing will have to be either knee-length trousers or long dresses.

Another rule that visitors should keep in mind is that displays of affection are frowned upon in the country, so fans will have to be careful in moments of joy. It should also be kept in mind that sexual relationships outside of marriage are punishable by seven years in prison.

Another of the most controversial issues has been the non-approval of same-sex relationships. Fans are being warned not to wear anything in public that represents the LGTB community because that could be punished with a prison sentence of up to five years.

Finally, supporters will not be allowed to drink alcoholic beverages in public spaces and will only be allowed to drink alcohol in certain places. If they drink outside these places, they will be fined 800 euros and risk being arrested by the police.
