Why I Stopped Doing Internet Fraud – Skit Maker, Shank
Popular Nigerian skit maker, Adesokan Emmanuel, popularly known as Shank Comics, has openly shared his decision to quit internet fraud after facing multiple setbacks in the illicit trade. Despite dedicating six months to learning online scams, he found himself unable to generate substantial proceeds, prompting his trainer to advise him to abandon the endeavour.
Emmanuel recounted this pivotal moment during a recent episode of the 9jafathemousfaces podcast. He revealed that his pursuit of internet fraud yielded negligible results, with him failing to cash out even $100 or its equivalent in Naira during the six-month period.
Frustrated by his lack of success, his mentor advised him to discontinue his involvement in fraudulent activities. As a parting gift, the trainer gave him an iPhone 6 and encouraged him to return home.
Emmanuel candidly shared his experience, stating, “When I graduated in 2019, I went to Oshogbo to learn Yahoo [internet fraud]. For like six months, I didn’t cash out $100, not even N5. It was even the person who was teaching me who asked me to quit and go back home. He gave me an iPhone 6, and I went home. My daddy that time dey shout say, you graduated with 2.2 from engineering department blablabla. That time my life don spoil. I just start to dey drink, dey do things.”
This revelation sheds light on the challenges and consequences faced by individuals who dabble in internet fraud and highlights the importance of ethical and lawful pursuits.
