Zainab Balogun is Working on a Psychological Thriller titled “Blood” to Put a Spotlight on Endometriosis and Women’s Health

Nollywood star Zainab Balogun is set to shed light on the often-overlooked issue of endometriosis with her upcoming short film titled “Blood.” The psychological thriller, conceived as a powerful vehicle for advocacy, aims to raise awareness about this debilitating condition affecting millions of women worldwide.

Balogun, known for her candid discussions about her own battle with endometriosis, takes on the dual roles of lead actress and executive producer for “Blood.” Under the banner of her production company, ZABA Productions, she joins forces with London-based Ocurens Content and CSA Global to bring this vital project to life. Talia Smith will helm the film as its writer and director.

Described as a “call to action,” “Blood” delves into the harrowing realities of endometriosis and its profound impact on women’s health. The condition, characterized by the growth of uterine tissue outside the uterus, afflicts approximately 1 in 10 women globally, causing excruciating pain and a myriad of other symptoms.

For Balogun, “Blood” is more than just a film—it’s a platform for education, empathy, and empowerment. Drawing from her personal experience of enduring years of undiagnosed pain, she is determined to spark meaningful dialogue and advocacy around this often-misunderstood condition.

In a statement, Balogun emphasized the urgency of the project, stating, “As an endo-survivor, this is personal. ‘Blood’ triggers education, empathy, empowerment, and advocacy.” She urged her followers to support the film’s Kickstarter campaign, which seeks to secure funding for production costs and ensure the project reaches its full potential.

With its compelling narrative and commitment to amplifying the voices of women affected by endometriosis, “Blood” promises to be a poignant and impactful cinematic experience. Scheduled for release later this year, the film stands as a testament to Balogun’s dedication to driving social change through storytelling.
