Will Smith: Rihanna Couldn’t Get Over the Look of My New Film
Will Smith’s first film since his Oscars slap scandal hasn’t been going down well with critics, getting rather mediocre reviews as reported by MARCA.
Now, the actor has shared the reaction of Rihanna after she attended an exclusive screening of ‘Emancipation’.
Smith is hoping to put his slap of Chris Rock behind him and a hit film would help, but it’s not all going to plan so far.
The historical action-drama telling the story of a slave who escapes has yet to convince movie reviewers.
Thumbs Up From Rihanna
The film does have at least one fan, though, as Smith revealed that Rihanna enjoyed it.
Speaking on the red carpet for the movie’s premiere, the 54-year-old shared the singer’s reaction.
“Rihanna loved the cinematography,” Smith claimed to E! News.
“She could not get over the look of the film and how it felt.”
Rihanna had attended a private screening of the movie with Smith and a select group of others, including Dave Chappelle, Tyler Perry and Rihanna’s boyfriend A$AP Rocky.
“The thing that’s great with Black people is they talk to the screen the whole time, so you don’t have to ask people’s opinion,” joked Smith.
“So, I didn’t have to ask anybody’s opinion from the room.”
Low Critic Score For ‘Emancipation’
It remains to be seen what mass audiences make of ‘Emancipation’, but critics are not being very favourable. The movie currently has a score of 50 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
