X-Men Actor Declines Deadpool 3 Cameo Due to Previous Role’s “Mental Toll”
In a recent interview, Vinnie Jones, known for his role as Juggernaut in X-Men: The Last Stand, revealed that he turned down a cameo appearance in the upcoming Deadpool 3 due to the taxing nature of portraying his character.
Speaking with Yahoo UK, Jones disclosed that director Shawn Levy approached him for a role in Deadpool 3, officially titled Deadpool & Wolverine. However, Jones cited the physical and mental strain of donning the Juggernaut suit during his tenure in X-Men 3 as a deterrent.
“Putting that suit on had its mental toll as well because you’re in it and you can’t do anything all day, you can only drink through a straw,” Jones explained, recounting the challenges of embodying the formidable mutant. Consequently, negotiations for Jones’s appearance in Deadpool 3 did not materialize.
Deadpool 3 promises a star-studded cast, with Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as the irreverent antihero Wade Wilson. The film will see Deadpool venturing into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), teaming up with Wolverine to confront a common adversary.
Jones’s portrayal of Juggernaut, a character known for his formidable strength and durability, made its cinematic debut in X-Men 3. However, the physical demands of the role, particularly the cumbersome helmet worn by the character, reportedly took a toll on Jones during filming.
Although Jones expressed enthusiasm for appearing in Deadpool 3, citing it as his favorite movie, budget constraints ultimately hindered his involvement. “Deadpool’s my favorite movie of all f***ing time more or less,” Jones remarked, expressing his desire to participate in the project.
Deadpool 3, anticipated by fans for its multiversal narrative and crossover with Wolverine, is set to premiere on July 25 in the UK and July 26, 2024, in the US. As excitement builds for the film’s release, fans eagerly await further updates on its ensemble cast and storyline.
