Yemi Alade Clinches Best Music Video Award at Trace Awards

Kigali, Rwanda – The inaugural Trace Awards witnessed Afrobeats sensation Yemi Alade securing the prestigious title of Best Music Video for her hit track ‘Baddie.’

The Nigerian superstar was in a close race with other renowned artists, including Asake, Wizkid, and Tiwa Savage, all vying for the coveted Best Music Video accolade.

The list of nominees for this fiercely contested category included some of the industry’s biggest names:

“Kpaflotage” – Suspect 95
“Loaded” – Tiwa Savage & Asake
“Ronda” – Blxckie
“Tombolo” – Kalash
“Yatapita” – Diamond Platnumz

The inaugural Trace Awards commenced on October 20th and ran through to the 22nd. This groundbreaking event, a first of its kind, celebrates the creativity, talent, and influence of African and Afro-inspired musicians and artists.

The Trace Awards brought together a star-studded lineup of artists, representing the rich tapestry of the African music industry from North to South and East to West. The three-day extravaganza featured a festival segment and an award ceremony.

The Trace festival kicked off with an array of masterclasses, conferences, fashion showcases, and more. The nominations predominantly featured West African artists, particularly those from Nigeria, with over 40 nominations in total. Prominent figures in the running included Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Ayra Starr, Davido, WizKid, Tiwa Savage, Fireboy DML, and Rema, illustrating the immense influence of the Nigerian music scene in the industry.
