Yvonne Nelson’s Allegations Almost Made Me Lose My Current Relationship – Iyanya
Nigerian singer Iyanya, known by his full name Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, has candidly addressed the aftermath of Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson’s allegations of infidelity against him in a recent podcast appearance. The artist, popularly recognized for his hit track ‘Kukere,’ revealed that Yvonne Nelson’s claim that he cheated on her with Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh nearly jeopardized his ongoing romantic relationship.
During the latest episode of the “Tea With Tay” podcast hosted by actor Temisan Emmanuel Ahwieh, known as Taymesan, Iyanya opened up about the personal ramifications of the allegations on his love life.
Yvonne Nelson’s revelations surfaced in her memoir titled ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson,’ which was launched on June 18, 2023. In the book, she detailed her discovery of Iyanya’s alleged infidelity involving Nollywood star Tonto Dikeh.
Iyanya recounted that after the book’s publication, someone he was courting became hesitant about pursuing a relationship with him. He expressed, “That stuff [Yvonne Nelson’s allegations] is crazy, bro. That stuff almost made me lose a relationship – a current relationship.”
He went on to elucidate that the fallout from Yvonne Nelson’s claims affected his interactions with an unnamed individual he was interested in. The accusations seemingly cast doubt on his character and trustworthiness in the eyes of his potential partner. He added, “Before this book [Yvonne Nelson’s memoir], I was talking to one innocent girl who is not famous, but immediately that book came out, everything became shaky. The girl was feeling like, ‘Omo, this guy, have you changed? Are you sure you won’t do me the same?'”
