2K Seems To Be Totally In Favour Of Xbox Acquiring Activision Blizzard

Last week, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of 2K Games, released its latest financial report, sparking interesting discussions about Xbox and Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

During a Q&A session, 2K CEO Strauss Zelnick shared some insights. In an interview with IGN, Zelnick expressed his support for the merger, suggesting that Microsoft’s investment would benefit not only themselves but also the entire gaming industry. He stated, “What’s good for them is also good for the industry.”

While there have been reservations from other companies such as Sony and Google regarding the deal, not all game companies oppose it.

Cloud gaming has been a major concern in terms of regulatory approval, and Zelnick acknowledged this issue. He explained, “I think it’s important never to confuse a distribution technology with a business model […] I would love to believe that streaming our titles would massively expand the marketplace.”

Although 2K’s perspective does not have a direct impact on the regulatory process, it offers a different viewpoint on the matter.

The final verdict from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is still pending, along with Microsoft’s appeals process. The gaming industry eagerly awaits the outcome of these proceedings. CMA, before we know what’s next for Xbox and Activision Blizzard.
