50 Cent Turned Down My Request to Take Picture with Him – Davido
Afrobeats superstar Davido has opened up about a memorable encounter from his teenage years when American rapper 50 Cent refused to take a photo with him.
During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, Davido shared the story of meeting the G-Unit frontman during a family trip to Las Vegas to celebrate his older brother’s 21st birthday. At just 14 years old, Davido was too young to join in the festivities and spent much of the time in the hotel lobby—where he unexpectedly ran into several rap icons.
“I saw Lloyd Banks and took a picture with him. He was my favorite back then,” Davido recounted. “Then I saw 50 Cent. I said, ‘Wow! 50 Cent, I love you. Can I have a picture?’ He said, ‘No,’ and just walked off.”
Years later, after making a name for himself on the global music scene, Davido met 50 Cent again and reminded him of that early encounter. According to the Nigerian star, 50 Cent laughed off the memory, saying, “You’re here now, right?”
Despite that initial snub, the relationship between the two artists has since evolved. In 2023, 50 Cent brought Davido onstage as a surprise guest during his sold-out show at Madison Square Garden in New York. The pair are also scheduled to co-headline a major concert in London later this year alongside R&B legend Mary J. Blige.
