Travis Scott Resolves Most Astroworld Lawsuits, One Case Still Pending

Following the tragic events at Travis Scott’s Astroworld festival in 2021, where multiple concertgoers lost their lives, the lawsuits against the rapper and associated entities have largely been settled. However, one case remains unresolved.

As reported by ABC News, all but one of the 10 wrongful death lawsuits filed against Travis Scott and various companies have been confidentially settled. The exception is a lawsuit brought forth by the family of 9-year-old Ezra Blount, the youngest victim of the concert tragedy.

Despite Scott’s motion to dismiss the Astroworld lawsuits being denied by District Judge Kristen Hawkins last month, the civil suits have largely been resolved through settlements. If found liable, Scott and Live Nation could potentially face significant financial damages.

In defence against the claims, Scott’s attorneys argued that the responsibility for concert safety rested with event organizers and venue staff, rather than the performing artists themselves. They emphasized that Scott complied with directives during the festival, including ending the show promptly when instructed.

While Travis Scott remains entangled in the legal proceedings, rapper Drake was dismissed from the plaintiff’s claims earlier this year, with the judge granting his request to be removed from the lawsuits.

Despite requests from several entities, including Apple Inc. and Scott’s own enterprises, to be dismissed from the lawsuits, Judge Hawkins denied those motions.

Last year, a grand jury decided not to pursue criminal charges against Travis Scott in connection with the Astroworld tragedy, following an extensive investigation by Houston Police.
