Benue Killings: MI Abaga Condemns Violence, Declares Solidarity with Victims
Nigerian rapper and music executive Jude Abaga, popularly known as MI Abaga, has joined the growing chorus of voices decrying the latest wave of violence in Benue State, describing the situation as heartbreaking and unacceptable.
In a heartfelt message shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, the award-winning rapper expressed deep anguish over the continuous attacks in the Middle Belt region, particularly in Benue, where dozens have reportedly been killed in recent weeks.
“My heart is heavy,” he wrote. “It grieves me deeply to see so much of the Middle Belt bleed. The recent killings in Benue are not just statistics – they are our people, our families, our communities being torn apart.”
Abaga, who hails from Jos in Nigeria’s North-Central region, added a personal note of empathy and solidarity: “Your pain is my pain. We can’t normalise this cycle of violence that has plagued our land for too long. To those we’ve lost: we will not forget you. To those still standing, we stand with you.”
He further called on the government and relevant authorities to launch a thorough and transparent investigation into the attacks and improve security in vulnerable communities across the state.
The statement from MI Abaga adds to the growing public demand for urgent action to address the recurring violence in Benue and other parts of the Middle Belt, where clashes between armed groups have left communities devastated and displaced thousands.
