Concord Has Effectively Been Shut Down By Sony For A Second Time

Sony has once again placed Concord in the spotlight – this time by targeting a community-led effort to revive the discontinued game. The tech giant has issued takedown notices against videos showcasing a fan-made PC reboot, effectively forcing the project to halt operations.

Concord, once positioned as a major live-service title for PlayStation, became one of the company’s most notorious missteps. Reports suggest the shooter cost more than $400 million to develop, only for Sony to shutter its development studio and take the game offline just days after launch.

In mid-November, a group of fans managed to bring the title back to life by creating custom servers that allowed limited access to the game. Their work briefly gave the abandoned project a second chance – until Sony intervened.

According to a message shared in the Concord Delta Discord community, developers behind the revival paused new invites after “worrying legal action” surfaced. The trigger appears to be gameplay clips posted on YouTube, which were promptly removed following DMCA claims filed by MarkScan, a firm frequently associated with Sony’s copyright enforcement.

With the servers now inactive and the project on hold, the fan-driven revival looks unlikely to move forward. Unless Sony softens its stance, the company’s latest actions may mark the second – and possibly final – shutdown of Concord.
