Nike SB P-Rod 1 “Habanero Red” Fuels Speculation Ahead of 2026 All-Star Weekend
Nike may be preparing a crossover moment between skate culture and basketball as images of the Nike SB P-Rod 1 in a new “Habanero Red” colourway begin to circulate, prompting speculation about a possible tie-in with the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend.
The newly surfaced design features a bold red upper paired with deeper red tones and gold accents, giving the shoe a striking, high-energy look. One detail in particular has caught attention: a lace dubrae marked “WEST”, which has led to suggestions that the sneaker could reference the Western Conference All-Stars.

Paul Rodriguez, the professional skateboarder whose signature line the shoe carries, is closely linked to Los Angeles, a city often associated with hosting major basketball events. That connection has added weight to theories that Nike SB may be planning a special release to coincide with the league’s mid-season showcase.

Nike has a long history of blending performance designs across sports, with basketball silhouettes frequently adapted for skateboarding and vice versa. The P-Rod 1 itself is part of that legacy, standing as one of the brand’s most recognisable skate models inspired by basketball footwear aesthetics.
While Nike has not confirmed any All-Star Weekend link, industry watchers believe the Nike SB P-Rod 1 “Habanero Red” could arrive around February 2026, aligning with the timing of the annual exhibition event. If released, it would add to a growing list of Nike SB drops expected next year.
