A$AP Rocky Named Ray-Ban’s First Creative Director Following Shooting Trial Acquittal

A$AP Rocky has secured a major new role as the first-ever creative director for Ray-Ban, just days after being acquitted in his felony assault trial. The iconic eyewear brand announced the partnership in a press release on Friday, February 21, unveiling Rocky as the creative mind behind upcoming designs.

As part of his new role, the Harlem rapper will oversee various collections, beginning with a fresh take on Ray-Ban’s classic frames. The debut line, titled the “Blacked Out” collection, will feature gold-plated accents and ultra-black lenses and is set for release in April.

Ray-Ban president Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio praised Rocky’s creative vision, saying, “He’s a visionary artist and creator. His ability to push boundaries aligns with Ray-Ban’s DNA, reinforcing our values of innovation, pioneering spirit, and courage.”

Rocky also shared his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “I’ve always admired Ray-Ban’s ability to stay true to its roots while constantly evolving. I’m excited to be part of the strong heritage and develop the next chapter for an iconic brand like Ray-Ban.”

The rapper had been subtly hinting at the partnership, frequently wearing Ray-Ban frames during his court appearances leading up to the verdict.

Moving Forward After Acquittal
Rocky’s high-profile trial, which began on January 24, stemmed from allegations that he shot A$AP Relli in November 2021. After nearly three weeks in court, the jury reached a verdict on February 18, acquitting the rapper on all charges.

Since then, Rocky has wasted no time diving into new ventures. In addition to his Ray-Ban role, he has joined an investment group led by his attorney, Joe Tacopina, to acquire a stake in the UK soccer club Tranmere Rovers.

On the music front, Rocky appears to be gearing up for the release of his long-awaited album Don’t Be Dumb. A snippet of a new track surfaced online on February 20, showcasing a high-energy flow reminiscent of his earlier work. He further fueled speculation about the project’s arrival by posting “DON’T BE DUMB” on X just hours after his acquittal.

With a major fashion deal, a new music era, and fresh business ventures, A$AP Rocky seems to be turning the page on a turbulent chapter, setting the stage for a strong comeback.
