Activision to Shut Down Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile One Year After Global Launch
Just over a year after its highly anticipated global release, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is set to go offline, publisher Activision has announced. The mobile title, launched worldwide on March 21, 2024, will be removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Activision explained that the decision was made after the game failed to resonate with mobile-first players in the same way it had with its PC and console audience. “While we’re proud of the accomplishment in bringing Call of Duty: Warzone to mobile in an authentic way, it unfortunately has not met our expectations,” the company stated.
Although the game will no longer be available for download after May 18, players who install it before Monday, May 19, 2025, will still be able to access it. Matchmaking and inventory cross-progression with other Warzone platforms will continue, ensuring a degree of continuity for existing players.
However, all future seasonal content and gameplay updates have been cancelled. Social features tied to the mobile version will be discontinued, and players will no longer be able to make in-game purchases with real money. Activision has also confirmed that no refunds will be issued for prior purchases or unused COD Points.
Despite the game’s short run, Activision expressed gratitude to its community, saying: “We deeply appreciate your dedication and passion for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile. We know this news may be disappointing.”
To ease the transition, the company is offering incentives for Warzone Mobile players within Call of Duty: Mobile, encouraging fans to continue their experience there.
