Actress Esther Sky Urges May Edochie to Drop Yul’s Surname Amid Ongoing Family Drama

Nollywood actress Esther Nwachukwu, popularly known as Esther Sky, has weighed in on the Edochie family dispute, advising May Edochie to dissociate herself completely from her estranged husband, Yul Edochie, by dropping his surname.

Her remarks come in the wake of a fresh controversy involving Yul’s brother, Linc Edochie, and his new wife, Yinka, who reportedly shared private contact information online, escalating tensions within the family.

In a video posted on Instagram, Esther accused the Edochie family – including veteran actress Rita Edochie – of aligning against May, suggesting that the growing hostility should prompt May to sever all ties with the family name.

“With all due respect, drop Yul Edochie’s name so there would be peace,” she said. “You’re already winning, and there’s nothing particularly special about the name. If your documents carry ‘May Yul Edochie,’ go to court and make the change. Introduce your new name to us.”

Esther also alleged that members of the Edochie family were plotting behind the scenes against May, saying, “The family has ganged up against her. Yul’s brothers and even his siblings are no longer neutral. If there weren’t closed-door conversations happening, Linc’s wife wouldn’t boldly come online to drag Queen May.”

She further criticised veteran actor Pete Edochie for remaining silent amid the chaos.

“Sir, with all due respect, it is your duty to bring this madness to an end. Enough is enough,” Esther said in the video.

The actress’s comments sparked a wave of online reactions. Some supported her call, while others cautioned against abandoning the Edochie name entirely.

One user, @marysilver, said: “I dey feel you, my dear.”
Another, @bianca457054, commented: “Judy wants to be the best daughter-in-law. She has used Yinka to the highest level.”
Meanwhile, @bosskid447 offered a counter-view: “She should not drop it. Doing so will give Judy peace.”

As the family feud continues to play out publicly, calls for resolution – and accountability from the Edochie patriarch – are growing louder.
