Ali Baba Praises Nigerian Musicians for Enhancing National Awareness

Veteran comedian Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, widely known as Ali Baba, has commended Nigerian musicians for their significant role in boosting national awareness, asserting that their contributions surpass those of the country’s ambassadors.

In a recent interview with Channels Television, Ali Baba expressed disappointment that despite the considerable impact of entertainers, the Nigerian government has yet to integrate the entertainment and creative industry into its economic planning.

“Two years ago, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group reviewed the nation’s five-year economic forecast, and the entertainment and creative industry were glaringly absent,” Ali Baba remarked. “A comprehensive 200-page document was produced, yet it overlooked the creative sector entirely. The value of Nigeria’s creative industry extends far beyond our borders.”

Ali Baba emphasized the profound influence of Nigerian artists on the global stage. “Artists like Burna Boy have done more for Nigeria’s national awareness than any ambassador posted to the United States, the United Kingdom, or other nations. These musicians are elevating Nigeria’s profile and fostering international recognition in ways traditional diplomacy has not.”

His comments highlight the vital role of the creative industry in shaping Nigeria’s global image, urging for greater recognition and inclusion in national economic strategies.
