Aliko Dangote Rises to 65th Richest Person Globally with $28 Billion Fortune

Nigerian business magnate Aliko Dangote has solidified his position as the richest man in Africa and climbed to 65th place on the global wealth rankings, with an estimated net worth of $28 billion. The latest figures, published by Bloomberg in its Top 500 Billionaires Index, reflect a significant increase in Dangote’s wealth, primarily due to the commencement of operations at his new petrochemical refinery, valued at over $20 billion.

This new ranking marks the highest global position Dangote has achieved, rising from 83rd in 2022. No other African billionaire comes close to his wealth, with South African Johann Rupert ranked 174th globally, possessing a fortune of $13.6 billion, and Nicky Oppenheimer, also from South Africa, at 224th with $11.6 billion.

Other notable African billionaires include Natie Kirsh of South Africa, ranked 297th with $9.25 billion, and Egypt’s Nassef and Naguib Sawiris, at 302nd and 407th, with wealth estimated at $9.16 billion and $7.37 billion, respectively.

At the top of the global wealth list are tech giants Elon Musk, with $242 billion, and Jeff Bezos, with $210 billion, followed closely by Mark Zuckerberg and Larry Ellison at $204 billion and $185 billion.
