AY Makun Criticizes Men for Lack of Support in Entertainment Industry
Renowned Nigerian filmmaker and comedian, Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has expressed frustration over what he perceives as a lack of support from fellow men in his industry.
In a candid post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, AY suggested that men in the entertainment world are more inclined to support women than their male counterparts, despite the challenges men face to remain relevant and fulfill responsibilities.
“One day, men will tell each other, ‘What did man do to man?’ We work so hard to stay relevant and take care of our responsibilities. Must we have breasts and hips to earn the support of our fellow men?” AY wrote.
The comedian further claimed that he is the only male Nigerian filmmaker who has persevered in the industry without quitting due to a lack of backing.
AY’s remarks have sparked conversations online, with many weighing in on the dynamics of support within the entertainment sector and beyond.
