Being Famous at Tender Age was Overwhelming – Lil Kesh
Nigerian rapper and singer Keshinro Ololade, popularly known as Lil Kesh, has opened up about the pressures of rising to stardom at a young age, describing the experience as “overwhelming.”
Speaking on The Esther Show in an interview published on YouTube on May 2, 2025, the Shoki hitmaker shared how his rapid rise in the music industry left him grappling with responsibilities and expectations beyond his years.
“I blew at a very tender age,” Lil Kesh recalled. “I was 19 when I got signed. I had just turned 20 when I had ‘Shoki.’ So imagine being in the spotlight that early.”
He likened his journey to that of international pop star Justin Bieber, applauding the Canadian singer for being open about the challenges of early fame. “Shoutout to people like Justin Bieber who were vulnerable enough to tell their story. I went through things similar to that,” he said.
Lil Kesh added that while his success brought public attention, it also came at the cost of personal growth and formative life experiences. “Coming to the spotlight at a very early age, I was deprived of a lot of things – life experiences I should have learned before. It was overwhelming trying to handle all of that.”
The artist’s candid revelation adds to ongoing conversations about the mental and emotional toll of early fame in the entertainment industry.
