‘Bob Marley: One Love’: Trailer Reveals Kingsley Ben-Adir as Jamaican Reggae Legend

Bob Marley is set to receive the biopic treatment in the film “Bob Marley: One Love,” directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and scheduled for release on January 12, 2024.

The movie was filmed in England and Jamaica, including significant locations such as Trench Town, where the Wailers originated, and covers key events in Bob Marley’s life, including the 1976 attack on his home and studio.

Kingsley Ben-Adir, known for his roles in “One Night in Miami” and “The Comey Rule,” will portray Bob Marley in the film, with Lashana Lynch playing the role of his wife, Rita.

Ziggy Marley, co-producer of the film and son of Bob and Rita Marley, expressed excitement about the cast and crew’s ability to capture the essence of Bob Marley’s spirit, and the inclusion of Jamaican actors in the production.

Aston Barrett Jr., the son of Wailers’ bass player Aston “Family Man” Barrett, will also be part of the cast, playing his father in the film, while continuing his father’s legacy as the drummer for the Wailers.

In addition to Ziggy Marley, Rita Marley and Cedella Marley, the film is co-produced by Brad Pitt, Robert Teitel, Jeremy Kleiner, and Dede Gardner, among others.

For those eager to explore Bob Marley’s story before the biopic’s release, the 2012 documentary “Marley” offers a comprehensive look at the music legend’s life, featuring archival interviews and rare performance footage, and is available to stream on various platforms.
