Burna Boy, Fireboy Win Big at 2023 BMI Awards
Nigerian music sensations Burna Boy and Fireboy DML have basked in the spotlight at the prestigious BMI London Awards 2023.
These two exceptional artists were among the esteemed recipients of the coveted ‘Most Performed Work of the Year’ awards, a recognition bestowed upon more than 20 outstanding songs.
Burna Boy’s chart-topper ‘Last Last’ and Fireboy’s sensational hit ‘Peru,’ which also features British sensation Ed Sheeran, secured their well-deserved spots among the honorees.
Adding to the celebration of Nigerian talent, renowned record producer Richard Isong, known in the industry as P2J, clinched the esteemed ‘Impact Award.’
The grand event also saw British music legend Gary Kemp being honored with the prestigious ‘Icon Award.’ Additionally, American singing sensation Doja Cat’s afrobeat-inspired track ‘Woman’ claimed the title of ‘Song of the Year,’ further solidifying the global influence of afrobeat music.
