Burna Boy Makes Grammy History with Six Consecutive Nominations

Nigerian music sensation Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has set a new milestone as the first African artist to achieve Grammy nominations six years in a row. The ‘African Giant’ has been nominated consistently since 2018, showcasing his influence and appeal on the global music stage.

With a total of 11 Grammy nominations to date, Burna Boy has only one win so far. This year, his song “Higher” has been nominated in the Best African Music Performance category, further solidifying his standing in the industry.

In another record for Nigerian artists, Tems emerged as the most nominated Nigerian at the 67th Grammy Awards with three nominations. Her debut album Born In The Wild, as well as her songs “Love Me Jeje” and “Burning,” earned her spots in the Best Global Music Album, Best African Music Performance, and Best R&B Song categories. This brings her Grammy nomination count to eight.

The back-to-back achievements of both Burna Boy and Tems highlight the growing recognition of African music on the global stage, with both artists continuing to represent Nigerian talent in an international arena.
