Celebrities Shouldn’t be Mocked for Wearing Fake Designers – Zlatan Ibile

Nigerian rapper and fashion entrepreneur, Zlatan Ibile, has criticised the trend of publicly mocking individuals, including celebrities, for wearing counterfeit designer brands.

In a viral video making rounds online, Zlatan urged for understanding, emphasising that individuals who wear fake products today could afford the originals in the future.

He said, “People wey dey buy fake, make dem dey buy am until dey get money to buy original. Person wey wear fake today, go wear original tomorrow.”

Zlatan’s remarks come in response to recent incidents where fashion entrepreneurs have called out celebrities for wearing fake items. Notably, fashion entrepreneur Rahman Jago recently criticised veteran singer Oritse Femi for allegedly wearing counterfeit high-fashion pieces. Similarly, a few months ago, Ashluxe CEO Olayinka Ashogbon publicly accused singer Lyta of wearing fake versions of his clothing brand.

Zlatan’s comments highlight the growing debate around fashion authenticity and affordability, as he advocates for a more empathetic perspective toward those unable to purchase original designer items.
