Charge Based on Your Value, Shallipopi Advises Fellow Artistes
Nigerian singer Shallipopi has urged fellow musicians to set their fees in line with the value of their work and the success of their music.
In an interview with News Central TV, Shallipopi addressed the ongoing debate about the high fees charged by Nigerian artistes. He argued that an artiste’s worth is directly linked to the reach and success of their music, suggesting that those with similar streaming numbers as international stars should demand comparable fees.
“It depends on your music and where it has gotten; that is what determines your price. If your music has achieved the same streams as an American artiste, you should charge accordingly. But if it hasn’t, you can’t overcharge,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of realistic pricing within the industry.
