Korede Bello Criticizes Decline in Music Quality Among Young Nigerian Artistes

Nigerian singer Korede Bello has voiced concerns about the declining quality of music produced by younger artistes in the country. Speaking on a recent episode of Hip TV’s Trending hosted by Kim Oprah, Bello suggested that the lack of life experience among young musicians is impacting the depth and substance of their work.

Bello argued that artists who achieve fame at a young age tend to produce music with less meaning and depth, as their life experiences are still limited. He contrasted them with older musicians, such as Timaya and Fela, whose music reflects lived experiences and societal issues.

“When young artists blow up early, the quality of music starts to decline because they don’t have quality experiences to draw from,” Bello explained. “They don’t know how to live yet; they just know they are living and want to live large. That’s what they sing about.”

However, he emphasized that this isn’t the fault of the younger generation, noting that “you can only give what you have.”
