Eminem Addresses Longstanding Rumor Surrounding “My Name Is” Music Video

Eminem, the renowned Detroit rapper, has finally addressed a persistent rumour regarding his state during the filming of the music video for his breakthrough hit, “My Name Is.”

In a recent episode of Vevo Footnotes released on Thursday (March 7), Eminem provided insight into the production of “My Name Is” and shed light on the circumstances surrounding its filming. While reflecting on the experience of being on the set of such a significant production for the first time, he took the opportunity to dispel a lingering rumour.

Addressing speculation about his appearance in the video, particularly during the scene where he portrayed Bill Clinton, Eminem clarified, “If you look closely at my eyes during the scene, it may look like I was high on ecstasy, but that’s just a rumour.”

In addition to setting the record straight on this matter, Eminem is also revisiting another aspect of his past. He is currently involved in a project centred on the concept of delusional fandom, inspired by his iconic track “Stan” from over two decades ago.

Variety reported in mid-February that Eminem is co-producing a documentary titled “Stans,” named after the song that depicts a fictional fan’s extreme devotion to the rapper. Directed by Steven Leckart and slated for release later this year through Shady Films, the documentary explores the phenomenon of super fandom through Eminem’s perspective and the fans who idolize him.

Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s manager, described the documentary as an opportunity to examine the dynamic between artists and their fanbase, particularly focusing on the themes explored in “Stan.”

“This is a study of the relationship between fanbase and artist through the lens of one of Eminem’s most fascinating songs and one of the world’s most important entertainers,” Rosenberg explained, highlighting the film’s aim to engage audiences in a thoughtful exploration of fandom and its implications.
