Chipotle Introduces New Adobo Ranch Dip, Its First in Five Years

Chipotle is spicing up its menu with the launch of a new dip – Adobo Ranch – marking the chain’s first dip addition in half a decade.

Starting June 17, customers across the United States and Canada will be able to try the limited-time offering, which combines the familiar creaminess of ranch dressing with the smoky heat of adobo peppers, sour cream, and a blend of herbs and spices. The dip is designed to add what the company describes as a “craveable kick” to its dishes.

The move comes as the popular fast-casual chain navigates a challenging economic environment. Chipotle’s sales slipped in the first quarter of the year, reflecting a broader trend of consumers cutting back on dining out amid financial uncertainty. Chipotle shares have dropped 12% so far this year.

This is the first time Chipotle has introduced a new dip since revamping its queso in 2020 – a change that boosted sales at the time. The company is hoping the new ranch-inspired dip will deliver similar results, especially with younger consumers in mind.

“Ranch has become a cultural phenomenon, especially among Gen Z, who are finding creative ways to enjoy it beyond the traditional salad,” said Chris Brand, Chipotle’s president and chief brand officer.

The popularity of ranch-flavored items continues to grow across the fast-food industry. Taco Bell, KFC, and Burger King have all recently spotlighted ranch-based sauces and dips, signaling strong customer demand for the flavor.

Food industry consultant Maeve Webster noted that ranch’s familiarity plays a key role in its appeal, offering consumers a low-risk way to try new menu items. “It’s a sauce everyone knows,” she said, “so the fear of wasting money or not liking the taste is reduced.”

To celebrate the launch, Chipotle will offer Adobo Ranch free to members of its rewards program on the first day of availability.
