Comedian IGoSave Accuses Nigerian Telecom Providers of Exploiting Customers, Calls for Investigation

Popular Nigerian comedian Otaghware Onodjayeke, better known as IGoSave, has accused telecommunication companies in Nigeria of exploiting customers through exorbitant data charges and poor service quality. He is urging authorities to investigate their operations.

His comments come amid growing frustration over recent tariff increases by major internet providers in Nigeria.

Currently in the United Kingdom, IGoSave compared internet services in both countries, emphasizing that data in the UK is more reliable, faster, and lasts significantly longer than in Nigeria.

In a video shared on his social media, he expressed shock over his experience with UK service providers, stating:

“This is the third time I have gone to my service provider in the UK to top up my phone, and they turned me back, saying I still have data. I bought just 20GB three weeks ago, and it’s still working – and very fast.”

He then called on the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to investigate telecom providers, alleging that Nigerians are being ripped off.

“20GB lasts a month in the UK, but in Nigeria, 50GB doesn’t last three days. What is the reason? These internet providers are no different from fraudsters. How much is Nigeria’s minimum wage that they are charging so much for data that barely lasts?”

His outcry adds to the growing concerns among Nigerians who have long complained about expensive and unreliable internet services, with many calling for regulatory intervention to ensure fair pricing and better service delivery.
