Court Grants Substituted Service in Mohbad Death Inquest to Reach Key Witnesses
A magistrate court in Ikorodu, Lagos, has granted approval for substituted service to be used in summoning key witnesses in the ongoing inquest into the death of popular singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad.
Magistrate T. A. Sotobi has authorized Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, to serve witness summonses through social media and major national newspapers. This ruling enables the legal team to reach crucial individuals who may possess information regarding Mohbad’s untimely death.
Among the witnesses the family seeks to contact are notable figures such as Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, and Samson Eletu, known as Sam Larry, both of whom were closely associated with the late artist.
Mohbad’s passing on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, has left the music industry in mourning. He is survived by his wife, Wunmi Aloba, and their young son, Liam. The ongoing inquest aims to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death, and the court’s decision to allow substituted service marks a significant step forward in the family’s pursuit of justice.
