Court Delays Arraignment of Mercy Chinwo’s Former Manager Over Fraud Allegations

The Federal High Court in Lagos has postponed the arraignment of Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, over an unresolved administrative process.

Onyedikachukwu and his company, Eezee Tee, are facing charges of money laundering and dishonest conversion of $340,000, filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Court Proceedings
During the hearing on Thursday, EFCC prosecutor, Bilikisu Buhari, was present, while defence lawyers, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN) and Dr. Monday Ubani, represented the accused.

Although both sides were prepared to proceed, Justice Alexander Owoeye refused to take Onyedikachukwu’s plea, citing an unresolved administrative issue that must be addressed before the case could move forward.

The defence team argued that the matter was contractual rather than criminal, but the judge stood firm on the adjournment.

The case has been rescheduled for May 14.
