Dakota Johnson Vows to Steer Clear of Superhero Roles Post-‘Madame Web’ Backlash

Following the disappointing reception of her latest superhero film, ‘Madame Web’, Dakota Johnson has declared her reluctance to return to the genre.

Portraying the titular character in the Spider-Man Universe, the 34-year-old actress admitted to Bustle that the experience was unlike anything she had encountered before. “It was definitely an experience for me to make that movie. I had never done anything like it before. I probably will never do anything like it again, because I don’t make sense in that world. And I know that now,” Johnson revealed.

Reflecting on the challenges faced during production and the divergence from her expectations, Johnson emphasized the unpredictability of the filmmaking process. “Sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like, ‘Wait, what?'” she expressed, acknowledging the learning experience despite the criticism.

Beyond her superhero ordeal, Johnson lamented the state of the film industry, particularly the influence of committees on creative decisions. Expressing frustration over the trend, she emphasized the importance of artistic integrity over commercial considerations. “You cannot make art based on numbers and algorithms,” Johnson asserted, highlighting the disconnect between audience intelligence and executive decision-making.

As Johnson navigates her career, she remains committed to projects driven by artistic vision rather than commercial appeal, echoing a sentiment shared by many in the industry.
