Davido Shares How He Copes with the Loss of Loved Ones

Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has spoken candidly about how he deals with the pain of losing close family members and friends. The singer has experienced several personal losses over the years, including the death of his mother, Mrs. Victoria Imade Adeleke, when he was just 11 years old, as well as the tragic passing of his 3-year-old son, Ifeanyi. He also mourned the deaths of his associates Tagbo, DJ Olu, Obama DMW, and his personal photographer, Fortune.

In a recent interview with Mystery Fashionist in New York, Davido revealed that his faith has been a source of strength through these difficult times.

“I have lost a lot of people. I lost my mum at the age of eleven. I’m just being strong. I did a song called ‘Stand Strong,’” the singer shared. “I feel like strength and obviously, my faith has kept me going.”

Davido also took the opportunity to address some misconceptions about his public persona, saying that people often misunderstand him.

“Sometimes, people think I’m not approachable. Another misconception is that people also think I’m too accessible,” he said. Reflecting on his upbringing, he added, “I grew up in a big family, I’m used to having people around me. My talent and success is God-given.”

Despite the tragedies he’s faced, Davido continues to find solace in his music and faith, while remaining grateful for the life he leads.
