Diddy, Stephen Curry and Colin Kaepernick Tried to Buy a $2.2 Billion NFL Franchise With Less Than Half in Their Bank Accounts

In 2017, the trio of former 49ers quarterback and activist, Colin Kaepernick, professional basketball player Stephen Curry and Hip Hop icon, Diddy made a bold bid within the NFL world.

The Carolina Panthers was up for sale, and Kaepernick has teamed up with Curry and Diddy because the trio were seriously interested in purchasing them, as reported by The Sports Rush

However, there was a hurdle to overcome and this hurdle came in the form of the former Panthers owner Jerry Richardson who had listed the team for $2.2 billion.

At the time, Kaepernick was only worth $20 million. Despite teamng up with both Curry and Diddy, their collective wealth was still nowhere near the value ofthe team they wanted to acquire.

Curry is currently the highest paid NBA player but he’s nowhere close to being a billionaire. Diddy was worth $820 million at the time, and he hoped that with the two athletes, he’d have amassed enough money.

Diddy wanted Carolina to have a black owner, and that’s why he made a hard push to acquire the franchise. In the end, he just simply didn’t have the money.

Kaepernick also wanted to try and make a push to be the Panthers starting quarterback with his effort to buy the team. However, he failed on that front too. It was a valiant effort by the three but it ultimately proved unsuccessful.
