Diddy’s Mother Faces Fraud Lawsuit Over Bad Boy Entertainment Stake

Diddy’s mother, Janice Combs, 84, is now embroiled in a legal battle after being accused of fraudulently acquiring a 25% stake in Bad Boy Entertainment. The lawsuit, filed by founding partner Kirk Burrowes, alleges that Combs unlawfully took control of his ownership share under duress.

Allegations of Coercion and Betrayal

According to documents cited by Rolling Stone, Burrowes claims that he was forced to sign over his shares due to threats of violence from Sean “Puffy” Combs. He further alleges that he only recently discovered Janice Combs’ involvement in a 1996 scheme intended to oust him from the company. Burrowes contends that the acquisition of his 25% stake was done secretly and without his consent, effectively sidelining him from the label he once helped build.

Claims and Legal Demands

In addition to fraud, Burrowes accuses Janice Combs of unjust enrichment and deceptive business practices. He is seeking the return of his original stake in Bad Boy Entertainment, compensation for the damage to his reputation and business interests, and a full audit of the company’s financial records. Burrowes argues that the alleged actions constitute a betrayal of trust by both Janice Combs and her son, Diddy.

A History of Legal Disputes

This lawsuit adds another chapter to a long history of legal disputes surrounding Bad Boy Entertainment. Burrowes previously sued Diddy in 2003 for allegedly coercing him into forfeiting a $25 million stake – a case that was eventually dismissed due to the statute of limitations. Burrowes also claims that following his departure from the company in 1996, he was “blacklisted” from the industry.

Defensive Stance and Broader Implications

While Burrowes is pushing for substantial financial redress, Janice Combs has also been vocally defensive of her son amid a series of serious allegations against him since 2023, including accusations of sexual assault and sex trafficking. In a statement released last October through her attorney, Combs decried the public narrative that she claims misrepresents her son’s character and urged for his right to a fair trial.

As legal proceedings continue, neither Janice Combs nor Diddy has commented on the current allegations. The outcome of this case could have far-reaching implications for the future management and ownership of Bad Boy Entertainment, further intensifying debates over corporate governance in the music industry.
