DJ Khaled Claims He Has Biggest-Selling Air Jordan Collaboration Ever
DJ Khaled has proclaimed that his We The Best x Air Jordan 5 collaboration is the most significant release in Air Jordan collaboration history.
The renowned music figure made this bold assertion during a new episode of “Sneaker Shopping” with Complex’s Joe La Puma, which was recently released.
He shared the exciting news about the salmon-coloured sneakers while standing in his We The Best Snipes superstore in Miami Beach.
Khaled confidently stated, “The We The Best 5s, the Jordan 5s, was the biggest release number-wise in Jordan-collaboration history. Do your research and get to it ASAP. We’re talking numbers. Because when I put these out and the Coconuts, I wanted to make sure we did a worldwide thing.”
He went on to express his enthusiasm for achieving this milestone: “And we did it big. Any Jordan release is gonna be the biggest, [but] I was just excited to make history for my first sneaker release.”
Supporting Khaled’s claims, Complex uncovered a clip where Jordan’s VP of Entertainment Marketing, Reggie Saunders, confirmed the significance of the collaboration. Saunders stated, “This is the largest launch of any collaborator we’ve ever worked with.”
The We The Best x Air Jordan collaboration was unveiled on Cyber Monday in 2022, retailing for $225. DJ Khaled initially revealed the collaboration in April of that year, showcasing three other colorways that appeared to be exclusive to family and friends. Khaled received a seal of approval from Kanye West after showing him some sample pairs earlier this year.
The legendary Jadakiss was enlisted to help promote the collaboration, with the advertisement appearing just weeks before the sneakers were released.
“They ain’t believe in us, MJ did,” DJ Khaled says in the commercial before passing the torch to Kiss, who proceeds to deliver a set of fiery verses about the kicks.
These sneakers are part of a larger “We The Best” collection.
