D’Banj and Maria Borges to Host Inaugural Trace Awards in Rwanda

Afrobeats superstar D’Banj, alongside Angolan supermodel Maria Borges, is set to host the inaugural Trace Africa Music Awards in Rwanda.

The prestigious Trace Awards, celebrating African music and talent, is scheduled for October 21, 2023, at BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda. In partnership with Pepsi, Martell Nigeria, Fly Rwanda Air, and BK Arena, Trace will bring together artists from Africa and the African diaspora to honor the accomplishments and excellence of the African music industry.

The awards ceremony will spotlight a wide range of African-centric music genres, including Afrobeat, Dancehall, Hip Hop, Afro-pop, Mbalax, Amapiano, Zouk, Kizomba, R&B, Rumba, and more. The event will be broadcast on Trace TV.

Several Nigerian superstars, including Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr, Nissi, Davido, Asake, Burna Boy, and Rema, have received multiple nominations. Notable categories include Best Male Artist, where Asake, Davido, Rema, and Burna Boy compete against Diamond Platnumz, Didi B, and K.O.

The performance lineup for the event features an impressive array of artists, including Davido, Asake, Bamby, Yemi Alade, Benjamin Dube, Black Sherif, Blxckie, Bruce Melodie, Bwiza, Didi B, Distinct, Janet Otieno, Josey, Kalash, and Kizz Daniel from Nigeria. This inaugural award show promises to be a significant celebration of African music and culture.
