FIFA President Infantino Considers Drake for 2026 World Cup Halftime Show
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has expressed openness to the idea of Drake headlining the first-ever World Cup Final Halftime Show at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
FIFA recently announced that it is collaborating with Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, to curate a Super Bowl-style halftime performance at the final match of the tournament. During an interview with Fox5, Infantino responded positively to the suggestion of the Canadian rapper taking center stage for the historic event.
When a host proposed Drake as the ideal headliner, Infantino responded:
“So we can create a bit of rivalry, right? That’s a good idea. Actually, Drake was with us when we announced the host cities… We will do that [sign him for the halftime show].”
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final will be held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, which will be temporarily renamed New York New Jersey Stadium for the tournament. In addition, FIFA plans to stage a fan festival takeover at Times Square during the final weekend of the competition, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The potential inclusion of Drake would mark a significant crossover between sports and global entertainment, as FIFA looks to enhance the fan experience for the tournament’s climax on July 19, 2026.
