Drake hits the Raptors’ Game in Classic Nike Zoom Flight

When the Toronto Raptors faced the Philadelphia 76ers, they staged an incredible comeback. To watch highlights from the game in which Pascal Siakam had a triple double with 37 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds.

The comeback was not the game’s only highlight. Coach Papi, aka Drake, was in attendance and wore some never-before-seen Nike Zoom Flight 95 shoes. The shoes sparked debate on social media, with users expressing a variety of viewpoints.

The Air Zoom Flight 95 is known for its futuristic, avant-garde silhouette, which includes orb-like cutouts across the leather “Black Metallic” checkered upper, which is accented by a metallic silver midsole and outer sole. Eric Avar created the silhouette to help then-Mavericks point guard Jason Kidd advance, with the Zoom Air cushioning serving as a foundation for lateral spring and dynamic on-court maneuvering. Avar has also collaborated on Nike’s Kobe 9 Elite silhouette, utilizing Flyknit technology as a structural symbiotic symbiosis of “science and art.”

The OG silhouette, which was named a personal favorite by sneakerhead Hanni El Khatib, was last seen during its 20th Anniversary in 2015 and again in 2017 in various neutral-toned iterations with contrast piping across the nubuck upper.

The cursive “Flight” logo is embroidered across the heel tab, as it has been on previous models, and a metallic and all-black Nike Swoosh appears at the heel and toe cap, with forward-stitching throughout. The set is completed by black-and-white speckled laces.

Zoom Flight 95 was mostly associated with Jason Kidd, the Dallas Mavericks’ co-Rookie of the Year point guard.
