Eminem Delivers Powerful Message Against Substance Abuse on Juice WRLD’s Posthumous Track ‘Lace It’

Eminem has collaborated on a new posthumous track with Juice WRLD, titled “Lace It,” addressing the dangers of substance abuse and paying tribute to fallen figures in the hip-hop community. Slim Shady, drawing on his own experiences as a former addict, imparts wisdom and caution to younger artists in the poignant song.

Released on Saturday, December 16, the track is produced by Benny Blanco and Cashmere Cat. Juice WRLD’s bittersweet verse and hook set the tone, followed by Eminem’s reflective contribution, where he emphasizes the perils of drug abuse.

Eminem’s verse begins with a cautionary message: “You pop some ecstasy first/ It gets progressively worse/ Try your best to reverse/ Unsuccessfully flirtin’ with certain death/ And revertin’ to your Promethazine urge.” The lyrics delve into the destructive consequences of substance abuse, highlighting the struggles he faced during his own battle with addiction.

The D12 rapper then pays tribute to fellow artists who lost their lives due to drug-related issues, including Juice WRLD, Shock G, Lil Peep, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Gangsta Boo, and Pimp C. He also mentions iconic figures Prince and Michael Jackson, underscoring the tragic impact of substance abuse on the music industry.

Reflecting on his own journey to recovery, Eminem urges the younger generation, saying, “Juice, we will forever miss you/ To the younger generation/ I ain’t lecturin’ you, but, man/ Just be careful…”

Eminem’s contribution to “Lace It” is a poignant reminder of the toll of addiction and the importance of staying vigilant against its pitfalls. The track serves as both a tribute to fallen legends and a cautionary message to those navigating the challenges of the music industry.
