Falz Expresses Doubts About Raising Future Children in Nigeria
Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has voiced uncertainty about raising his future children in Nigeria, citing concerns over insecurity, economic instability, and personal threats linked to his activism.
Speaking on the Dear Ife Series podcast hosted by Ifedayo Agoro, Falz was asked whether he would consider raising his children in the country. In response, he admitted the question caught him off guard and acknowledged the difficulty of committing to such a decision given the current state of the nation.
“That’s a deep question,” he said. “It’s something I can’t outrightly say ‘yes’ to. The threats that come with activism, the insecurity, and even the general docility in the system — it’s all very worrying.”
Though he reaffirmed his deep belief in Nigeria’s potential, Falz said he remains torn. “I’m very pro-Nigerian, and I truly believe that we can get it right. But I honestly don’t know.”
Falz, who remains unmarried and has no children, is known for using his platform to speak out against social injustice and government shortcomings, notably through songs like This Is Nigeria.
