Gears of War Remastered Trilogy Reportedly Coming to PS5
Another major Xbox franchise may soon be making its way to PlayStation, as reports suggest that a remastered collection of the Gears of War trilogy is in development for PS5.
According to Spanish gaming insider eXtas1s, who has previously leaked accurate information about Xbox games expanding to new platforms, the collection will feature remastered versions of Gears of War, Gears of War 2, and Gears of War 3. If true, this would mark the first time all three games would be available outside the Xbox ecosystem, making them playable on both PC and PS5.
The rumoured collection is also expected to support cross-play, potentially allowing Xbox and PlayStation players to experience multiplayer and co-op modes together. While it’s unclear if a full multiplayer component is planned, speculation suggests it could follow the model of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which combined maps, weapons, and modes from multiple games into a unified experience.
This report follows a recent trend of Xbox bringing its exclusive titles to rival platforms. Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle would be launching on PS5 this spring. Additionally, there are ongoing rumours that Starfield and Halo: The Master Chief Collection may also arrive on PlayStation and even Nintendo’s next-gen console, Switch 2.
While Xbox has yet to officially confirm the Gears of War remaster, an announcement could be expected later this year, possibly aligning with the upcoming release of Gears of War: E-Day, a new prequel focusing on the origins of the series’ central conflict.
