Afrobeats star Adekunle Gold has criticized the state of the Nigerian music industry, claiming it is being led by individuals who lack a genuine understanding of the craft.
In a post on his X handle, the singer expressed frustration over how artists, producers, and creatives are being sidelined while those without musical expertise dominate the industry.
“People who have no business leading music conversations are now controlling and destroying the industry,” he wrote.
Adekunle Gold further argued that the influence of the wrong individuals has resulted in misleading narratives, causing true talent to be overlooked while mediocrity thrives.
“When the wrong people lead the conversation, they push the wrong narratives. That’s why real talent is overlooked, and mediocrity thrives,” he added.
