“Get Help!” – Adekunle Gold Blasts Brymo Over Recent Comment About His Wife, Simi
Award-winning Nigerian Afro-fusion singer, Adekunle Gold, has taken a stand in defence of his wife, Simi, after fellow artist Brymo made what many deemed a disrespectful comment about her.
The controversy began when Brymo shared a post on Friday, July 21, 2023, mentioning award-winning songstress Simi, who is also Adekunle Gold’s wife and the mother of his child.
In the post, Brymo revealed that he had made a request to get intimate with Simi when she approached him for a collaboration. He implied that this request had led to the collaboration not materializing.
The revelation sparked widespread criticism, with many considering Brymo’s comment unnecessary and disrespectful towards Simi and her marriage to Adekunle Gold. The controversy unfolded when a social media user asked Adekunle Gold if Brymo would be featured on his upcoming project, prompting Brymo’s surprising response.
In response to the situation, Adekunle Gold, who is currently focused on promoting his forthcoming fifth studio album titled ‘Tequila Ever After,’ felt compelled to address Brymo’s remark. The rockstar sternly admonished Brymo, urging him not to disrespect his wife and family and suggesting that he seek help.
Taking to his social media platform, Adekunle Gold wrote, “Do not disrespect my wife and my family. Get Help!”
This incident follows a revelation made by Brymo in a 2022 interview, where he disclosed the reason why he hadn’t collaborated with Adekunle Gold. According to Brymo, Adekunle Gold had approached him about a collaboration, but Brymo wanted to create an EP instead of a single to maximize revenue, which he believes led to the collaboration not coming to fruition.
The recent revelation by Brymo adds to the ongoing discussions about the challenges female artists face in the music industry when dealing with male counterparts.
The incident has sparked conversations about the importance of respecting women in the music industry and the need to address such behaviour to create a more inclusive and respectful environment for female artists.
