Ghanaian Chef Arrested for Falsifying Guinness World Record
Ghanaian chef Ebenezer Smith, widely known as Chef Smith, has been arrested for allegedly fabricating a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
On Tuesday, Chef Smith held a press conference where he announced on social media that he had set a new world record with an 820-hour and 25-minute cooking marathon, supposedly conducted from February 1, 2024, to March 6, 2024.
However, Alina Polianskaya, Public Relations Executive for Guinness World Records, debunked Smith’s claims in an interview with the BBC. “No, this is not true at all. He does not hold the GWR title, and that is not our certificate,” Polianskaya stated. She clarified that the actual record is held by Irish chef Alan Fisher, who achieved 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from September 28 to October 3, 2023.
DAILY POST reports that Alan Fisher’s record surpassed that of Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, making him the legitimate record holder for the longest cooking marathon.
