Harry Kane: Bayern Munich Agree Deal With Tottenham for England Striker

Tottenham have agreed to sell Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, according to The Athletic.

The Premier League club have accepted a bid of £ 86.4 million for the 30-year-old striker, which was submitted on Wednesday. It’s now up to Kane, who has reportedly been offered a five-year deal by the Bundesliga giants, to decide whether or not to make the move.

Tottenham, Bayern and Kane all wanted the situation resolved before the start of the new season, and it looks as if they’re going to get their wish.

Kane is entering the final year of his contract and Tottenham want to avoid losing him for free next summer, having failed to convince him to sign a new deal.

The England captain is understood to be enjoying life under new manager Ange Postecoglou and has considered staying put, but a determination to win trophies before he retires has forced him to the brink of quitting his boyhood club.

Bayern have been after Kane all summer, with Thomas Tuchel urging his bosses to seal a deal for the forward, who has scored 280 goals in 435 appearances for Tottenham.

Kane sat out Spurs’ pre-season clash with Barcelona on Tuesday in an attempt to force a resolution to the saga, one way or another.

Two days earlier he scored four goals in his side’s 5-1 win over Shakhtar at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as fans serenaded him with chants of “we want you to stay”.

Some supporters have been hoping that a desire to beat Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goalscoring tally might convince Kane to stay put, especially since he’s only 47 strikes short. But today’s news suggests Kane’s hunger for silverware is greater than his hunger for individual records.

Landing Kane would see Bayern finally sign a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who left to join Barcelona last summer. The German giants ended last season with their lowest goal tally in four years, and only managed to snatch the Bundesliga title by the skin of their teeth on the final day of the campaign.
