‘I Faded Out Because I Became Less Ambitious’ – Orezi
Nigerian Afrobeats star Orezi has opened up about the reasons behind his noticeable absence from the mainstream music scene, admitting that a drop in ambition and drive played a major role in his career slowdown.
Speaking during a recent appearance on Hip TV’s Trending, the Ogede crooner confessed that becoming too comfortable and stepping out of the competitive energy that fuels the Nigerian music industry caused his decline.
“I faded out because I became less ambitious and comfortable with where I was,” Orezi said. “I was always on vacation, enjoying myself. I took myself out of the competition, and that affected my consistency.”
Using fellow artist Davido as an example, Orezi praised the award-winning singer’s relentless work ethic despite his fame and success. “Davido hustles like an underground artist. He has money and fame but still maintains his hustling spirit. That’s what keeps him consistent.”
Orezi’s candid reflection highlights the harsh realities of a fast-moving industry where relevance is often tied to resilience and consistency.
