I Was Very Naive at the Start of My Career – Tems Opens Up
Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has reflected on the early days of her music career, admitting she was initially “very naive.”
In a recent interview with Glamour Magazine Germany, the “Essence” hitmaker revealed that she entered the music industry with a sole focus on creating art, unaware of the complexities of the business side.
“I don’t want to lie. I was very naive at the beginning of my career – I just wanted to make good art,” Tems said. “I had to learn how to navigate the music business in a healthy way.”
The singer credited her management team and family for helping her stay grounded through her journey.
“I would say that it is both my management and my family that keep me grounded. Especially my family, my mother and my brother,” she added.
