It’s Insane to Consider Women in their Late 30s Old – Lady Gaga
Pop icon Lady Gaga has spoken out against ageism in the music industry, dismissing the notion that women in their late 30s are considered “old” for pop stardom.
The 38-year-old singer made the statement while accepting the Innovator Award at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Monday, March 17, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
“I don’t totally know how to think about this because winning an award honoring my entire career at 38 years old is a hard thing to get my head around,” Gaga said in her speech.
She went on to challenge industry perceptions, adding, “The world might consider a woman in her late 30s old for a pop star, which is insane, but I promise you, I’m just getting warmed up.”
Meanwhile, in the World Artist of the Year category, South African singer Tyla took home the award, beating Nigerian stars Burna Boy and Tems, who were also nominated for the inaugural prize.
