Not Every Talent will Stand Test of Time – Blaqbonez

Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has advised creatives to stay humble, emphasizing that not every talent will withstand the test of time.

The rapper expressed confidence in his ability to remain relevant in the industry, asserting that his unique artistry and loyal fan base will sustain his career for as long as he desires.

Reflecting on his journey, Blaqbonez recalled how an unnamed rapper mocked him in a 2017 freestyle after securing a record deal with Olamide’s YBNL Nation. According to him, the then-YBNL signee dismissed his chances of ever making it in the industry.

Although Blaqbonez did not mention names, fans speculated that he was referring to Limerick, a former YBNL artist.

In a series of tweets, he addressed the incident, saying:

“Because you got a deal before me, you added my name to your freestyles, ‘you no go ever blow like Blaqbonez,’ all because Olamide signed you. You thought he was God?”

He further reflected on how the rapper’s attitude changed after securing a deal, adding, “I pray you see these tweets and reflect on your life… We were in rap battle groups together for years, but as they signed you, it was time to sht on me.”*

Asserting his staying power, Blaqbonez wrote, “Not every kind of talent can last for years. I know who I am. I will be here for as long as I want to be. The music I make, nobody else can make it. I have fans who have been with me since the very beginning.”

Blaqbonez, known for his versatility and engaging persona, continues to solidify his place in Nigeria’s music scene, proving that resilience and originality play a crucial role in longevity.
